Florida Life.
When I was very young, I use to watch the musketeers. Our TV reception only received five channels. Yes, I know I’m old. The only mouseketter I remember was Cub-by. Now I live in Florida and I’ve about had my share of Disney. However, I do enjoy Busch Gardens. It’s a mini version of Disney, doesn’t cost much of a fortune, and as a resident, I can get passes for the year.
I have a friend who works at Disney-Orlando. I was going on and on about how I loved Disney World and what a fantastic place it is to take the family. At the end of my “dissertation”, she turned to me and said,”I’m about over Disney!” I was shocked. Yes, shocked! How could someone NOT want to be a part of Disney! I grew up on Disney. I know I’m well beyond my “Wonder Years” but we are all children at heart, aren’t we? I mean, it is every child’s dream to dance with Goofy, isn’t it? (Of course, many of us end up dancing with Goofy throughout life anyway, but still…)! I was crushed.
Unfortunately, she was speaking as an employee of Disney. I know when I was teaching school, our motto was “Part of your pay is a view of the Bay!” Apparently, Disney has the same saying.
I don’t know how much they pay at Disney but, when my little girl got to hug “Goofy”, she turned to me and said, “I hugged Goofy!” She was SO excited! It was like Christmas all over to see the expression on that little face!
Little did she know exactly how many Goofy’s she would have in this life before her prince would finally show up! Glad she finally found him.
