England in medieval times, a look at what might have been.
How England changed forever.
England has always had a turbulent past from the Romans and Vikings to the start of the Norman Conquest the citizens’ of this small island have never had it easy.
We have always had some sort of sovereign be it a King or Queen, and we have never had a written constitution like other country’s have. But we are a proud race of people some would also say that we are a warrior race with proud military traditions, this I can vouch for as I myself was once a warrior not an ancient one but a more modern one blooded in the ancient art of warfare in a modern world, our traditions go way back in time, my family tree goes back to the Norman conquest that’s over a thousand years back in time. My ancestors’ came from a little village called Leor in Normandy hence my name Lear and we came to fight with the Duke William for the promise of land in a new country. If you look back at the battle that changed England for ever you will see that it was a close call for both sides, both Saxon and Norman could have lost the battle it went on for over seven hours in the event the Saxon warriors with there five ft battle axes lost and England was conquered for the last time. Never again would an English man bow is head to foreign person.
I love the history of my country I go to places where our history is more prominent York, Chester, Hastings Shrewsbury Ludlow London. All these city’s or towns in England were prominent in our history Hastings for the Battle of Hastings where my forefathers fought with Duke William Shrewsbury where a young Prince won his battle spurs and then went on to be immortalised by the great bard many years later for winning the greatest battle of all England’s battles in France Agincourt. And Ludlow where a young twelve-year-old prince died a prince that was going to be a king who was married yes married at the age of twelve to a Spanish princess. it seems so vulgar to us all in this day and age for to children to be married at such an early age but in those days alliances were made between great Nations and princes and princes were married of to each other. One such Prince and Princess was Arthur of England and Catherine of Spain
