England in medieval times, a look at what might have been.

Prince Arthur died in 1502 in Ludlow castle thus changing the world of England forever perhaps changing the world forever. How is this possible you ask? Well Arthur had a brother his name was Henry, who became King Henry VIII, the princess who married Arthur was princess Catharine of Arigon who later married Henry.

All is well that ends well you might say, if only this was true for Henry was a cruel tyrant who never took no for an answer Catherine gave him a child the Childs name was Mary, but Henry wanted a boy to take over from him when he died but no matter how they tried any more children died.    This went on for over twenty years; until one day a young girl took is eye, that girl was Ann Boleyn, and this is where the history of England changed forever. For England was a catholic country and the Pope would not let the couple divorce this enraged Henry and he broke away from his faith and founded the Church of England. He later married Ann and she gave him a child not a boy that he craved but a girl, this girl would become the greatest Queen that England has ever seen but not before much blood was spilt starting with her mother. For Henry tired of Ann and on charges of incest and treason had her put to death, a most cruel King.

Far later in the history of England Henry died. One of his six wives gave him the son that he craved, alas he only was king for a few short months, and Mary became Queen, by this time England was a Protestant country but Mary was a staunch Catholic and tried to turn back the clock but the people of England would have non of this, and when Mary died childless Elizabeth became Queen, she had no time for the Pope there was only one ruler in England and that was her. Spain tried to invade many times and she suffered many defeats. If Arthur had lived England would have still been catholic, and Henry would never become king thus he would not have married is brothers wife Catherine, Mary would not have been born so she would not have been Queen nor would Elizabeth.

Because England was catholic there would never been any protestants in England therefore there would have been no pilgrim fathers who landed in America. As Spain would have been the dominant country in Europe it stands to reason that, they and not England would have populated America as they did in South America. There would have been no revolution and Canada would still be French. In addition, in all probability Cook would not have discovered Australia. All because a young Prince died all those years ago in a castle in Ludlow England. Of course, this all-pure speculation on my part but it does make you think doesn’t it?
