Rose is stuck between choosing the future that she was forced into and the future that she has always wanted for herself. But which will she choose when she is forced into making a choice?

Preface

I knew when I was called to the council room the night after my return that I was in some very deep trouble.  Everything had gone wrong in the assassination attempt, and I was unsure of how that had happened.  Somehow I had let my target go and I knew there would be punishment for me not completing my task.  If they gave me a second chance to correct my mistake then I would meet my target head on and terminate the man for good.

My target had been across the room from where I had been standing.  His long, silky dark chocolate hair fell down around his shoulders but had been tied up in a tie at the nape of his sleek, yet smooth neck.  Sweat had beaded across his skin, making his hair shine and his lightly tanned skin glistened with it.  From under his tee shirt and work out shorts I could tell that he had a strong, muscular frame.  With each trust that he had made toward the punching bag his muscles had rippled, his energy raw and powerful.  My mind had wandered to what it would have felt like with those rippling muscles beneath my touch or hovering over me as…

I shivered at the remembrance of his fiery touch and piercing chocolate gaze as he had circled me in the side room.  But then I pushed all those thoughts away as I remembered that the man was a rogue and very dangerous. The council had choose me to kill him and I would make it permanent if they chose to let me continue my quest.  I would have my retribution and he would pay for the life he had nearly taken from me.
