If a person is imprudent, he does not pay heed to a particular thing or things that to him, is a minor problem.  Often such people are apt to overlook these ‘small matters’.  But being careless and ignoring certain facts could not only become a big problem to him but it can also affect greatly his family.

Todd Wilkins was a successful man – he had a very good job and led a happy married life together with his two children.  He was very attached to his twelve year-old boy, Jerry.  Father and son went to Gymkhana park every Sunday to exercise.

As usual, on the 3rd March, both were present there in the afternoon.  The weather was glorious and all seemed beautiful to Mr Todd and Jerry.  They went through their workouts – light running, pacing up and down, hand movements, breathing in and out.  This went on for ten minutes.

“Father, rest for some time now – remember the doctor…”

“Oh! I’m fine.  You stay here and wait for me.  I’ve got to do some more running.”

Before Jerry could convince his father, the latter had already started his course.  Actually, Mr Todd was suffering from a minor heart disease.  The family doctor had suggested him fervently to rest after every ten minutes of physical exercise.  Not thinking about the probable consequence of his imprudence, Todd Wilkins continued running without considering his doctor’s warning.

On the bench, Jerry was following with his eyes all the movements of his father.  Suddenly, Jerry saw that father had stopped and the next second, Mr Todd fell on the ground.  This sight sent a cold shiver down Jerry’s spine; panic seized him and shouting for help, he ran as fast as his legs could carry him to the spot where his father lay.  He was frothing uncontrollably – a stroke attacked him.  Jerry could not speak; he just watched his father struggle helplessly.

A person of the gathered crowd quickly phoned the SAMU and his family.  The ambulance transported the imprudent victim and Jerry to Victoria Hospital but it was to no avail.  Mr Todd passed away on the way itself.

The imprudence on his part cost him his life.  Mr Todd Wilkins left behind his yearning son and his wife and daughter.  His son and relatives maybe learnt one of the greatest lesson of life but Mr Todd, though he was ambitious to see to his children’s future, could neither fulfil his wish nor other responsibilities – all because of a ‘small’ imprudence.
