Each and every one of us experiences life in more ways than one. We all have stories of our own and millions of them happen within just one day. Different people to see. Different stories to tell. Different lessons to learn.
Morning
A teenage girl opened her eyes with gloom on her face. Realizing that she woke up this day, her heart went thumping like it was about to fall off her body and explode. Somehow she wished this morning would come later, or tomorrow, or the day after, or perhaps, never. How she wished she wouldn’t wake up yet from her peaceful sleep, since she was still dreaming away, living out her fantasies inside her sweet and warm world covered by her closed eyes. But still, this very morning came with a chillingly cold reality dawning upon her: she had to continue with life after her boyfriend cheated on her and then dumped her for the other girl. With a heavy body and a heavy heart, she began her day doing her usual morning rituals. But unlike her days full of love and bliss, this day was dull and dark for her. As she headed for school, she stared blankly at the road and walked aimlessly. She was losing heart and when rain started falling on her; her tears poured along in agonizing harmony. She came back to her senses when she suddenly heard a loud sound of a braking car that was already inches close to her. Without any reaction from the driver, the girl worriedly apologized and walked out of the way. She realized how fool she was to almost lose her self and her life because of some worthless guy. Lifting her head, she started heading home… and moving on.
Afternoon
The road ahead was in heavy traffic, and so a cab driver steered slowly toward it as his heartbeat also slowed down after a near mishap. He almost hit a rain-drenched girl. He would have blamed himself if that happened. His four-year-old son was in the hospital and he couldn’t afford to carry another burden. What he earned from driving his cab was barely enough for them to live day by day. But the boy was stricken with a severe illness that would need his father to increase his effort and his earnings. The poor man even skipped meals to add up. He had swallowed his pride and went to all corners he could go to seek help, where he had been given some or none at all. Days went by and as his son got weaker, he got more desperate. He stopped by a chapel as soon as he got past the traffic. There he knelt down, prayed hard, and wept. He felt it was unfair of him to offer God what was just left of him, but thought it was much better than resorting to evil means. A little later that afternoon, a frail-looking man got on his cab and asked to go to a hospital – the one where his son was. He cried with joy when he found out that his passenger was with a charitable institution and was willing to help his boy and four other children. When they went to his son’s room, the cab driver hugged his child tightly like a girl clinging to her doll. And then he looked up and thanked God for lending him his little angel one more time.
