An Introduction to a story I’ve been working on for a long time.

I saw the werewolf on the bus again tonight. Why was such a being riding public

transportation? Even after what happened tonight, I still don’t know. It’s not exactly an

inconspicuous way to travel and he certainly didn’t look like he was in his element. His

long black trench coat flowed over the seats to either side of him exposing the tailored

pants and shirt of the same sleek black. He was wearing black boots that you couldn’t

buy just anywhere, and his hair – Black of course. It was cut short, almost like what the

military calls a “high and tight”, but his was a bit longer. It even came to a widow’s peak,

giving him an ominous look. He seemed more like a living shadow than anything else.

 Yes, yes, I know. You want to know how I knew he was a werewolf. I see by the

look on your face that you think I’m crazy for even saying such a thing, much less

believing that such creatures exist, but if after my story you don’t believe me – Well then,

to hell with you. I know what I saw. It was terrible, and heart-breaking. Before I go on

however, you will fill my glass with the best scotch in the house. I’ll need it if I’m going

to get through this. Thank you, kind sir. Now I can really begin.

I’d seen him get on the bus everyday for a month, and always at the same stop.

My stop is before his, so I, until tonight, had no idea just where he got off. At first

he was just another face in the crowd to me – Blending in with countless others, until

today when he got on the bus wearing that trench coat. A young boy of about 17 or 18 got

on and headed towards the back. The werewolf’s coat was partially on the seat where the

boy intended to sit, and without paying any attention, the boy sat on it.  When people get
