A short story about zombies, perfect for the upcoming holiday of Halloween!

Lightning shatters the night sky; I keep driving, I am not frightened. I’ve heard this thunder before; the car stops. Suspicious, I step out but I do not notice the body laying less than ten feet from my car. I do not see the ghoulish corpse slowly make its way toward me, inch by inch. I have a bad feeling about this because there is an eerie, unrealistic silence; I begin to panic and tremble with fear.

As a shadow crosses my path, I jump in terror; It is only a bird. Birds are not sinister, are they? The phantom is closer now, only five feet away but I still do not see it. I get back into the car, it still will not start; four feet. A feeling of impending doom crashes over me, as if I could lose my life at a second’s notice. There is an ominous feeling in the pit of my stomach as I exit the car a second time, hoping to walk somewhere. The gruesome body stands up behind me and petrified by fear, I dare not turn my head. One foot.
