The reason why there has been no Contact.

Skeptics ask; if there is intelligent life in the
Universe, why haven’t they contacted us?

Cynics ask; is there intelligent life on Earth?

Taken together, you’ve got the answer.

Let’s say there were Extra-Terrestrials as intelligent as
I am. They’d drive by, take a glance, and keep going.

The reason I use myself is because I look in the kitchens of
restaurants before I eat there. I turn clothes inside out to
check the seams before I buy them, and I take a mechanic with
me when looking at a motor vehicle.

I figure the same kind of look before you leap that I live
by E.T.s would practice.

Which is why they ain’t coming here.

If a space ship landed in my little district, some people
would stand up and say, “Wow.” Others would run and say,
‘Help’.

Some gals would wonder if the aliens were sexually
compatible. Some guys would study the ship to see
if they could steal it, while the less ambitious
would ponder if there was anything in the ship to steal.

All and all, the E.T.s had better pray someone calls the
cops and that the cops come quickly.

If the E.T.s are big and dangerous and have really great
weapons, you know someone is going to figure out how to
get an E.T. on his side to dispose of his neighbors, or
try to kill the E.T. to get one of those weapons.

If the Aliens are puny, not all their body parts might
be found.

If the E.T.s are of reasonable bulk and strength, and
decide to leave their ship to take a tour of the
area, when they get back, their space ship will be gone.
Someone will figure out how to move it and sell it.

Now this is just my district. Just a little local area
in a Third World Country.

I can think of other districts of Earth which might
involve military responses, religious insanity, whole
scale terror, and the like.

If there was intelligent life on this planet it would be
likely that intelligent life on other planets would make
contact.

You got it right, we see no foreseeable contact ever happening with your species.

Maybe in a few million years, when we evolve a little?

A little evolution is not enough. You guys are so far below the acceptable minimum that we doubt you will be approachable before you figure out how to destroy yourselves.

Alas, so goes my last hope of riding on a star ship
