Polar bears live in the north at all times. However, for the time being faced with people is extremely rare. The situation changed in the late twentieth century.
The first alarm sounded by the Americans. According to Chuck Monnetta, Jeffrey Gleasonand Lisa Rotterman from the Office of the U.S. minerals in the 90s of last century, the behavior of polar bears living in Alaska, has changed beyond recognition. For example, if during the period from 1979 to 1991 saw them mostly on sea ice (87% of the total numberof bears seen), then from 1999 to 2004, only 33% of bears continued to ”hang out” on the ice. The rest either moved to the coast to the carcasses of whales, whalers, the split, or simply swim in the ocean. In September 2004, when the ice cap retreated to the North Pole in a record 160 milesfrom the northern coast of Alaska, this has led to the tragedy. It all started with the fact thatscientists from the U.S. Department of minerals observed as many as 10 bears swimming in open sea 60 miles off shore. Soon the storm broke, after which the sea washed ashorefour dead bears. The event was widely publicized through the film ”An Inconvenient Truth”,a disabled former U.S. Vice President Al Gore. A strange yet continued. According to the program director for the polar bears of the Office of Wildlife U.S. Shlibe Scott, “a weeklyaerial surveillance conducted from 2000 to 2005, showed that an unusually high number of bears going to the coast. Thus, the stretch of 300 miles between the coastal town ofBarrow, Alaska and the Canadian border by land found 200 bears. More bears were seenat whale carcasses near the village of Kaktovik, located in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. “
