A priest falls into darkness

Chapter 7: The beginning of Insanity.

       Chapter 6

Jack’s head was still bandaged from the injury that he had given himself, it wasn’t his finest moment.  He started to feel his sanity slipping further from him; it was inevitable but he wanted to hold it off as much as he could.  The one strange thing was that there was no history of mental illness in his family.  As much as his family had tried to help him, it was never enough to keep it from manifesting and no matter how much he kept thinking it wasn’t going to happen, or how much he prayed to be made clean and sane.  It just wasn’t going to happen.  He looked over at the window and saw that it was getting dark outside, he dreaded falling asleep as his dreams were haunting him.  Each night it was the same ones over and over again, gradually getting worse each night.

He was still determined to try and leave asylum, and the only he could do that is if he started acting normality and try to act like the medications and therapy sessions were helping him.  Faking progress was one of the hardest things to do in that place.  They had already seen it all and dealt with people who were a lot worse then him.

A few hours the nurse came by with his medication plus something for anxiety so that he wouldn’t have any panic attacks while he slept.  He quickly swallowed them and showed her and she had left.  Moments later he fell asleep and the dreams started.  He was in an unknown hallway, the walls were spattered in blood, the doors on the right were blue and the ones on the left were black, which gave him a feeling impending doom if he got anywhere near them.  Then were screams of agony echoing through the halls that sent a cold chill throughout his body each time he heard them.

He knew that he had to go back and forth from door to do, that was the only way he was able to walk through the hall.  He had just never tried to go through any of the doors until now.  He swallowed his fears as bitter as they were and walked through the first blue door.
