Queen Isis threw herself on the bed and wept, quietly her sister Nephtys entered, she gently ran her finger over her sisters hair and spoke kind words to her. “He does not mean to hurt you?” she said as Isis lifted her head.
“Why won’t he listen to me, I’m not trying to hurt him, I just want him to know what he’s really up against.” Isis cried.
“He cannot always see what you see, it is your gift. He cannot always understand what you understand Set has his claws deep into him he simply can’t see that a person so close to him wants to see him suffer.” Nephtys replied.
“What can be done to protect him?” Isis questioned now sitting up in bed.
“Love, your connection to each other is deep, don’t allow anyone to break it, especially Set.”
“That feast has started and Set will be there,”
“Yes, you must go.”
“I can’t he has forbidden me to be there.” Isis stood and paced the floor besides the bed.
“Go, his eyes long to see you and his hands ache to touch you, he will not be angry but relieved.” Nephtys said as she stood and exited the room.
Isis looked down at her dress than reached over to ring a bell for her servants, an hour later she was dressed and walking towards the festival halls her female servants lead the way as she entered into the grand hall.
The crowd gasped as she entered cheering on her arrival Isis blushed as she smiled and waved to the crowd butterflies filled her stomach as her eyes met her husband’s
Before he could gather what his body was doing he stood before her again his heart busting with joy, the sight of his wife. “Do you forgive me?” he blurted.
“Always,” She smiled as a tear rolled down her cheek.
He pulled her into his arms and kissed her, “The finest wine, I will taste tonight…from your vineyard.”
Looking up into his eyes she could feel that unmistakable energy quickly build in her womb and race through her body a sensation only he could give to her. “Is the festival over, you look thirsty.” She returned.
“Come and eat, your going to need all of your energy tonight,” he chuckled slipping his hand around her waist and leading her to the royal table.
The Queen nodded to her husband’s close and trusted servants whom he considered good friends, the entertainment that that had paused when the queen entered had now continued.
Isis felt a little at ease as she did not see Set amongst the crowd nor in any of his usual dark corners, Osiris leaned over and whispered to his wife, “Relax, it seems that Ra has answered your heart.”
“I’m sorry for being this way, I can’t help it.”
“I keep telling you there is nothing to worry about,” he reassured her.
As they leaned into each other for another kiss Set entered the hall and boastfully announced his presence. Their lips never met, The King’s attention now fixated on his brother. Isis sighed the dark energy that Set had around him seem stronger than usual.
“Dear brother, you are such a great king, the people love you. You have taught them such wonderful things and, on this glorious evening you have gifted them a feast.” Set smiled broadly as the cheered him on.
“You do not need to say such things, it’s my honor and my duty which I truly enjoy to serve my people.” King Osiris replied stepping around the table.
Isis quickly followed, Osiris placed his hand behind his back and motioned for her to take his hand. “My love,” he whispered to her, “please do not worry, you will see that Set means me no harm.” Isis buried her face into the back of his shoulder and said a silent prayer.
“Ah and what is this my sister never leaves your side,” Set smirked looking down at Isis.
“I am not your sister,” she insisted her emotions on the verge of erupting.
“Yes, well thats not why I’m here so late, I have just received a gift from a king and queen of another kingdom. I did some favors for them and to show their gratitude they sent me this breathtaking gift.” Set said turning his back and motioning for his servants to bring in the gift.
“Ah, and you have brought it all this way to show us.” Osiris remarked
“Yes, you are my close brother and friend, your opinion means everything to me.”
The coffin was brought in and everyone except for Isis was awe struck by it’s beauty. Osiris marveled at the fine craftsmanship displayed in the details of the coffin. “What a fine coffin it is for you, your a very lucky man the favor must have been huge.” The king remarked as he ran his fingers along the edges of the coffin.
“Yes, but, I do not deserve such a fine gift as this and considering your grand festival I have decided to offer this gift to you on the exception that you can fit inside it.” Set offered his deceitful grin hidden well from others.
Isis tugged back on her husband, “Don’t do it please,”she whispered.
“Women, they worry over everything, sometimes they just don’t know their place.” Set remarked as he looked over at Isis.
“Isis please, don’t make a scene everything will be fine you will see.” Osiris said pulling away from her and walking towards the coffin.
“Osiris please,” she begged quietly.
“It’s okay I will be in and out, let me just see if I fit wouldn’t you want me to be in a beautiful coffin when it’s my time.” He teased her knowing that topic upset her.
“Oh she’s just upset that it cannot hold you both,” Set joked out loud and everyone laughed along.
“Wait,” Isis called out to her husband as she reached out to him, looking into his beautiful golden brown eyes she whispered, “Always.”
The King looked at her confused by her statement, “I will be in and out…you’ll see.”
With that he stepped into the coffin.
Everyone’s attention was on the king and the beautiful coffin no one noticed when the kings guards were stealthy taken down, The king’s close and trusted guards now moved in around the coffin and behind Isis.
“See my love, it’s a perfect fit and a fine gift.” The King boasted as he moved his head around in the coffin.
“Yes, what a fine gift it is,” Set added as he signaled to his men to shut the coffin and take it away.
Isis screamed for Osiris to get out but it was too late the coffin was sealed and all the Palace guards were either murdered or had chosen to betray their king by joining Set in his ambush. Isis fought as much as she could to stop them from throwing her husbands coffin into the river that flowed out of the kingdom however her last memory before being knock unconscious was her husband’s coffin floating down river
