The island was lit up by the morning sun.

The seagulls were soaring above with there laughing screams. The sun just rose and the colors were breath taking. Waves patter the shore in a musical sound. I came to the island on one of my adventure trips. I fell in love with the island and the people. I was home, finally. I was taken by the sunrises and sunsets of many colors. I liked the white sand between my toes and i liked swimming in December. It was always hot, but the good hot. There was always a breeze blowing so you always felt good. Just like a vistor i laid out in the sun too long and suffered a bad sunburn. I knew not to do that again. I tried surfing and failed that . I just couldn’t remain standing on the board. But i did like body surfing. I like watching the wind surfers and rooted for the women out there. They could make the boards fly and do tricks on them. I could watch forever. There were children making sand castles and girls in the latest bikinis. Fisher men lined the coast. They caught every thing from flounder to black tip shark. The fishing was great and the seafood on this island was great. Coconut shrimp danced in my dreams instead of sheep.  The salt smell and the waves put me into a peaceful sleep each nite. I liked walking the beach. Not only great exercise but there was something new to see each day. Noting stayed the same. One of my favorite thing was walking the beach at nite. The waves had a sliver look when they came to shore. They lit up and i love the way the moon reflected on the water. I would sit and watch for awhile. They calmness engulfed me. I would fall in to a relaxing trance. If i stared toward the dunes, the sand would move and come alive with the sand crabs. They would dash from one hole to another. It was quite amazing. Parie dogs went out in the day running about. There was coyotes running around at night. This place was so magical. Shrimp boats would ride out to the gulf by the jetty”s. There were tanker and sailboats. You could see any type of boat going threw the jetty. There was shopping and plenty of restaurants. There was always something going on. You could see storms out in the gulf heading toward the island. The dark colors and even lighting was a show in its self. One thing i found funny. Everything comes to the island to fish and swim. Why do they run out of the water when it rains? They are already wet. Why do they come to the shore when they see a fisherman catch a shark? Don’t they know they have been swimming with sharks and string rays. I just found the humor in this. Certain times of the year, starfish come ashore. Beautiful colors of starfish can be seen. Walking at the waters edge, you can find shark teeth, starfish, sand dollars and a large assortment of shells. People would be looking for their treasures. They carried buckets and bags. Laughing everytime they found something good. Spring breakers would come down for about a month. They partied and they all received sunburns. Most were nice and some of them got out of hand. for those who wouldn’t behave, they had a good look at the cities jail. but overall they had a great time. I couldn’t wait for them to leave tho. It was nice having the island back to the locals. After a month of heavy traffic and long lines it felt good to have the beach and town all to ourselves.  Someone was always cooking bar-que or having fish fries. The smells filled the air. the dolphins swam off shore and sometimes they were  swimming almost at a reach away. How could you not fall in love with such a wonderland of excitement.
