Adeeb and Mehnaaz move on. No one has any objections.
Part 2.
The next day back from school, Mehnaaz was waiting for Adeeb at her place. In fact every day once back from school Adeeb had the habit of running to Mehnaaz’s place, but this day Mehnaaz kept waiting and there was no sign of Adeeb.
The two younger sisters of Adeeb were named Ruksaar and Farheen. Mehnaaz called Farheen at her place and asked about Adeeb’s whereabouts. Farheen answered that Adeeb was at home doing his homework.
Subsequently Mehnaaz started crying. Farheen was astounded on seeing Mehnaaz crying and she went in the kitchen to tell the matter to her aunt (Mehnaaz’s mother). The latter went to enquire. Mehnaaz burst into tears and could hardly speak. After some seconds she confessed between sobs that Adeeb was angry with her and added that they had had a quarrel on the eve that is why he hadn’t come to see her that afternoon.
The mother, in a funny tone said, “If he is not coming here so you go to his place and show him your tears, poor baby!” and she winked at Farheen. Afterwards Farheen took Mehnaaz to her house to see Adeeb. Still crying Mehnaaz reached Adeeb’s house in company of Farheen. Her eyes were red and dropping big tears.
Sitting at his desk in his room, Adeeb was quietly doing his school work. Farheen got into his room and said, “Bro, look who is here!” Looking up, Adeeb found Mehnaaz sobbing, wiping off tears from her cheek. Adeeb hurried his steps towards her and took Mehnaaz in his arms asking, “What happened baby? Why are you weeping? Did someone hit you?” His caring words made her cry even more loudly. Adeeb, then brushing away tears from her cheeks said, “Oh poor sweetheart, who made my darling doll cry like this?” On seeing Mehnaaz crying loudly like that Farheen laughed and left them.
Adeeb took Mehnaaz on his lap and caressing her face asked, “Come on tell me what’s the matter?”
So still gasping for air Mehnaaz talked, “Why did you not come to my place after school today?”
Adeeb now understood her reason for crying and smiled saying, “Look how much homework I have got to do for tomorrow!”
Bending her head down Mehnaaz said, “No, it’s not that, I know that you are cross with me because yesterday I slapped you, isn’t it?”
Adeeb replied, “Oh, come on! Forget about yesterday, don’t talk about it.”
But Mehnaaz couldn’t forget such a thing. “No, first you say that you forgive me then I will stop talking about that.”
Taking a long breath Adeeb said, “Then why did you slap me?”
Then Mehnaaz looking down on the floor in a coy voice said, “And you, why did you touch me that way? I did not like it; I thought you had wrong intentions….”
At that moment Mehnaaz was still in her school uniform and was sitting on Adeeb’s lap, her skirt was up over her knees and Adeeb’s hands were right on her knees. So Adeeb said, “Look at this moment my hand is on your knees, and I can see your thighs so are you feeling bad and are my intentions bad?”
Still looking down Mehnaaz replied in a soft voice, “No.”
Then in quite a serious tone Adeeb said, “Look Mehnaaz, among all the cousins you are the one whom I like the most and spend all my time with. I love you more than all and I bet you know that pretty well; I love you since you were a small kid and never had my intentions been bad. Remember this always, my love for you is pure and true.”
Hearing these words from Adeeb, Mehnaaz felt her heart bouncing in her breast. She blushed, felt uneasy and quickly got out of Adeeb’s lap, kissed Adeeb’s cheek and ran as fast as she could back home.
Adeeb smiled and kept sitting where he was with a sigh and murmured, ‘Hope now she understands my love for her.’
