How I realized that a real lesson is always learned the hard way.

It was Monday morning. I was sitting in my office listening to my mother’s rambling about my little sister. The clock said it was 8:45 a.m. Everyday I have this habit of making a morning call to my mother. She loves it and waits for it. The topic presently was my sister getting fat day by day and unfortunately as it turns out to be she is pretty much careless about it. My sister Turai and I are very close While we are together people hardly can make out that there is an age gap of nine years, me being the elder one. In our family mom, dad and I are all are lean. Turai turns to be the odd one out. If she worked towards it she could have a much better figure than I have. But she does not seem to care. She needs the XXL size for any shirt to fit in and she is 72Kilos.As the fact stands I suggested her to exercise or to go for a bit of dieting but never actually said anything rude or insulting. I was getting tired of mom’s routine complains about this topic. After keeping down the phone I was thinking what could be done so that she is motivated to shed off that fat. Advised her, suggested her. I bought her new jogging shoes, but nothing worked. So I thought let me try a bit hard way to get things moving.

The next day when I met Turai I was prepared. It was hard for me as I rarely use harsh words with her. After a bit of casual talk I asked her what was her current weight. She smiled an embarrassing smile and said it was 72.5 Kilos. I said then that XXL size will not fit any more. In the market they sell cloths for people and not for pigs. Turai was on the verge of tears. But I went on telling her that nowadays I hesitated to walk beside her and introduce her to people as my sister. Turai perhaps could not take it any more and ran out of my sight. The whole day while I was at my mom’s place I could not see her nor did I bother to. It was the month of August 2008.After one week of gap we again started out usual interaction. At the end of September 2008 a text message from Turai told me that she was 69 Kilos. Then again in November 2008 I came to know that her current weight was 64Kgs.Oh my Ghosh!!!! She was nearing her ideal weight which was 62.5 Kilos.

That December when she visited my home she wore the sexiest red skirt that I have ever seen her wearing .Her waistline was so much more attractive. I smiled to myself when I heard from her about a couple of guys who has proposed her and she was considering which one to choose. I almost laughed at myself realizing why a real lesson is always learned in the hard way.

The routine complains of my mother however has not stopped yet. Now the topic was the increasing number of boyfriends my little sister is having and how short a skirt she buys each time.
