A short story written in the style of mythology.
Once in the land of England, sat a quite young venturing lad named Jack. Jack was no ordinary person. Yes, he was homeless, but kept himself strong and clean. Jack also was a handsome and charming young fellow and had a great intellect as well. He explored all of England and yet he could not find such a kind person to sojourn with. Jack looked for work everywhere and spent his cash wisely. Jack found nothing for him and decided to venture north where he would chop and sell wood. Jack made a cabin in the Scarborough District of North Yorkshire. Here he met an attractive mermaid with the forename of Jacinta. Her fin was frozen in a slab of hoarfrost making her incapable of travel. Jack conversed with the young girl as a curiously appearing donkey-man walked by. The donkey-man’s name happened to be Jack-donkey. Jack-donkey was well acquainted with Jacinta and together they explained to jack about the curse laid upon them by an evil giant. Jack vowed to destroy this giant and the curse along with. Jack-donkey and Jacinta told Jack the only way to kill the giant and reverse the curse was to get a special rock called the Killing Stone of Curse Reversal. Jack freed Jacinta from the ice slab and she helped prepared jack for his journey to get the rock. Jack was to venture 20 miles away into a dark and perilous cave of mystery. It was sure to be a dangerous trip.
Therefore, off on his trip our hero went wandering aimlessly toward the massive mountains that lie ahead. It was not very far when Jack met the giant who had cursed Jack-donkey and Jacinta. Clever old Jack was about to whip out his trusty axe when he realized he could fool this excessively stupid Giant. The giant flared his nostrils three times and said, “Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman.” Jack made him present to the giant and mildly conversed with him. Jack made friends with the giant as they wandered toward the cave containing the rock. As soon as the two were at the mouth of the cave Jack fooled the giant into spelunking competition. Jack race down the cave with lightning speed and dodged many of the protruding stalactites and stalagmites while the giant came crashing through. Finally, both the giant and Jack had reached the Killing Rock of Curse Reversal where Jack, while still in peak physical condition and having a sharp intellect, rolled toward the rock and threw the tiny pebble at the giant’s face. The giant died instantaneously and fell to the ground giving of a righteous transportation stone allowing Jack to appear next to Jacinta.
Jack pelted the mermaid that he loved so dearly with the Killing Rock of Curse Reversal and her fin grew into legs. He did the same thing with the annoying donkey-man, but thoroughly enjoyed it this time. Jack and Jacinta were soon married happily ever after with their pet donkey living in the same cabin Jack had built near the beginning of his adventure.
