An ordinary chef lives an ordinary life in the city of Paris. After a series of events, a lobster with a purple band, and the imminent sense of danger, just one tiny decision was all that was needed to change Aldéric Saunière’s life forever. Dramatic, suspenseful, and mysterious, “Jacques of La Madeleine” has a powerful plot, a dangerous twist, and a cuddly protagonist. Read on.

Christine Champney was standing over the Boss with a smoking gun in her hands, pointing at the dead thug. Her body was reverberating from the powerful gunshot.

“Are you okay?” she asked me. My throat was closed, my mouth dry, and I couldn’t get myself to speak. I just stared into Christine’s eyes and she understood that I was going to be alright. . .

At police headquarters, Christine was talking to the press. She had just announced that the gunmen from the shooting at La Madeleine had been captured, all thanks to me, Aldéric Saunière.

Just a few minutes before, I told Christine my theory as to why the dangerous men came after me.

“This is my theory. The gun men were the thieves that,” I said as I held the limp Jacques in one hand. I used two fingers to pry open his shell, making me cringe, but revealing something sparkling inside, “they were the thieves who stole the Hope Diamond.” And sure enough, the Hope Diamond fell out of Jacques. Christine was in shock. “One of their men made a mistake, dropped the diamond in a lobster tank, and one curious lobster ate it.” I smiled, thinking of Jacques. “They had to follow the shipment of lobster over to Paris and the lobsters ended up at La Madeleine. It was just chance that I picked the lobster with the diamond. It was all by chance!” I was smiling. It felt good to rescue the Hope Diamond but it felt awful deep down, knowing that one of my best friends had died in the process.

Everything was different now. . .

My life used to be very boring for a world class chef. All of a sudden, these crazy things happened to me three years ago and I ended up making a new best friend, Jacques, and rescuing the Hope Diamond! By doing all of these things, I have become widely famous as a hero throughout the world, I have gotten offers for jobs at some of the world’s most fine dining restaurants.

I used to live a life alone but everything has changed now. After we returned the Hope Diamond back to its proper home, Christine and I started dating and eventually became engaged and married. I have two little boys, and I couldn’t ever be happier. I’ve named them after Ed Godard, the old man, and Jacques, the lobster. My son, Ed, reminds me never to let others be alone and my son, Jacques, reminds me to make a new friend every day. I can easily say that I am wiser now.

I’m still a chef at La Madeleine but better yet, I own the place. My entire life has changed due to one unimportant decision: I chose the lobster with the purple rubber band. That one, little guy influenced me forever. I will never forget Jacques of La Madeleine.
