In this gripping tale of adventure and exploration, a man named Kevin and his associates travel to Earth’s sister planet, Venus. You will fall in love with this short, dramatic, and funny story!

As I sit in my cramped space pod with the two people I have to work with, I can’t help but feel nervous.  I hardly know my two associates, let alone trust them.  The man’s name is Felix.  The woman’s name is Harley.  When I asked her if it was the same as the motorcycle, she gave me this hard look that said “I’ve been asked that question a billion times before and I don’t need your crap right now pal.” That put a little damper on my curiosity.  Anyway, I began thinking about my immediate future.  No other man has gone to Venus.  My nervousness slowly enveloped me.  I start tapping my iron-clad boot on the metal walkway in the space ship.  The scientist and astronomer said I have everything I need for a safe exploration, but I am still ill at ease.  What could happen to me?  Would I go down in history?  Could I possibly—

“Will you stop that?” Felix hisses at me.  I look at him, bewildered, but suddenly realize that I had been tapping my foot hard enough to scratch the walkway.  I start fidgeting instead.  Since we have to sit here for another ten hours, I start thinking back on what the scientist and astronomer said to me.

“Your specially designed suit is made of artificially made materials strong enough to withstand the pressure and heat on Venus.” said the scientist “In fact, your suit is heat-proof enough to withstand being immersed in lava for a good half hour.”  The astronomer went on to explain how the surface of Venus is extremely volcanic and is frequently covered with a new layer of lava.  Because of this constant lava upheaval, it would be difficult to land.  He talked to me about two major continent-like formations that we could land on.  He said that the northern plateau called Ishtar Terra was essentially a huge, lava filled basin.  Something told me the other continent was more probable to land on.  I decided to show that astronomer I knew something.  “So we have to land on the other continent thingy, right?”  “You’re right!  Yes, we must land on the other plateau known as Aphrodite Terra.”  I drew my own conclusion.  Venus is similar to Earth in size and composition.  The main difference was that Venus was a massive, hostile volcano.  Before blastoff, the scientist and astronomer shook our hands and told us how grateful they were.  We would collect information that could not have been obtained ever before.
