Things to remember about Public Address System; turn it OFF when you are done addressing the passengers, crew and other listeners…
There was an international flight that left a major airport in New York City and was headed to destinations abroad. It would be a long flight of several hours at least. The plane had reached its cruising altitude and the pilot had turned off the fasten seat belts sign, and informed the passengers that they were now free to move about the cabin. The Flight Attendants soon were moving among the tired international travelers offering hot and cold beverages and snacks.

The pilot came on over the Public Address system again some minutes later to welcome the fliers to their airliner again, and to pass along some additional information about their airspeed, time of arrival and current weather conditions at their next landing call and so forth.
The pilot then set his headset microphone down but mistakenly left the intercom switch open, and was talking rather boastfully to his co-pilot “…yeah man I tell ya! –I’m going to finish this here cup of coffee and go back there and nail that tall hot blonde stewardess up against the bulkhead and show her just what kind of man I really am! She is one FINE-lookin’ woman and I bet you that she knows how to do it… “ and so on with other trashy sexist talk.
The tall blonde Flight Attendant upon hearing public announcement immediately realized that the Captain’s microphone was still live and in concern for the passengers, she began to hurry up the crowded aisle to the cockpit to inform the Captain that his headset microphone was still live and broadcasting everything he was saying.
As she neared the front of the plane she tripped over someone’s carry-on bag and fell face first to the floor, but managed to catch herself partially as she fell. As she was hurriedly getting up, a passenger in First Class glanced uninterestedly over the top of his newspaper and said to the Flight Attendant “Slow down lady! The Captain said that he was going to finish his coffee first!”
