Here is one of the scary stories I grew up with as a child, and one chapter to a book I am trying to decide weather or not to write.
In this story I have used some mohawk expressions and words, Buba, or Baba depending who you talk to means grandfather, or father. Hun-Ioh is an expression of exasperation and Kahnawake is pronouce Gah-Na-Wah-Gay or Gah-Nah-Wah-Gah.

there are many stories about things that go “bump in the night” but this story invokes something that goes Tap, in the night.
Their is an old wives tale that when you hear tapping on your windows at night you are not to open them for any reason and if the tapping gets worse then you are to try and ignore it. If you have no curtains you are suppose to avoid looking out that window. If you do have curtains you are not suppose to open them. It is because it is a bad spirit trying to take your soul. It is trying to welcome itself into your home and destroy everything you cherish in your life.
There are more warning signs for these tappings thankfully. the first sign that you have a mall intentioned spirits interest is when objects in your home start to go missing. 3 things will disappear. the first thing will be a little thing but it’ll only be important to you. the second thing will be more important, and the third thing will be something you hold very dear or is very important to you.
You are rewarded for avoiding this spectre’s visit. If you are visited by a tapping spirit, and do not open or look out your window, the next morning your items will be returned to their rightful place, or in a neat pile. This may sound crazy but it does happen.
One night a young girl was sleeping at her Gramz’s house like she did every Saturday night. After watching detective shows and soap operas with her grandparents it was bed time for the entire house.
As Gramz tucked her into bed, she asked the girl “Did you find your game boy yet?”
“No Gramz I couldn’t find it any where, and I know none of my friends took it there moms check all there stuff just in case it was mixed up.”
“Hun-Ioh! Well it better turn up soon, ok baby Love you goodnight, and don’t let the bed bugs bite”
Gramz’s kissed her forehead and went into her bedroom and turned off the light.
“nigh night Snooze” Buba said softly from the bedroom.
As soon as the little girl heard her bubo say goodnight she rolled over and tried to sleep. After what felt like minutes the girl heard the sound of a small twig tapping at her grandmother’s window. the little girl thought nothing more of it, and rolled over and tried to sleep. As she rolled over the sound grew louder it sounded like some one knocking on the window. the little girl was getting nervous because her grandparents we’re still asleep in there room. Normally they would hear her tossing in turning, and go into the living room where she slept to check on her. What scared the little girl most was how she could hear her Buba’s snoring. No one heard the noises the dogs hadn’t moved, the cat was still asleep at her feet.
