Cheri, a young college student, learns a lesson when she dismisses her own correct judgment.
Rushing to get her suite cases out of the cab, Cheri couldn’t help but notice the time, it was 10:05am and her flight would be leaving at 10:15am.
I should have scheduled for the 11:00am flight Cheri thought to herself. I am never on time, I still have to check my bags in and get my tickets.
“That will be fifteen dollars”, the cab driver said holding out his hand.
Cheri was in such a big rush she had forgot all about paying the driver
” I am sorry”, she said as she scrabbled in her purse and pulled out a twenty,” keep the change”.
“Thanks”, the cab driver said as if he had never had a five dollar tip before.
Money was the last thing Cheri had on her mind right know she needed to make this flight, Tomorrow was Christmas Eve and she promised her parents who were in Atlanta Georgia she would be home to decorate the tree. Cheri was the only child and her mother was so insistent about her putting the star on the top of the tree. Her mother said it was a tradition they did, which started way before her mother and grandmother and she wanted to keep it going. Of course Cheri being twenty and in college thought this was kind of silly, but she went along with it just to make her mother happy.
“Flight to Atlanta Georgia” Cheri said as she approached the ticket booth.
“All sold out” the lady behind the booth said.
“That can not be right”, Cheri said getting a little nervous. “I paid for my ticket in advance I am just here to pick it up”.
“Time” The booth lady said.
“10:15am”.
” I am sorry that flight has left. It is 11:10am”
“That can’t be Cheri said looking at her watch. Oh no she thought I put on the watch that still had the time for Chicago, she had forgot to change the time back after her visit to her grandparents last week.
“Is there any other flights today?” she asked
“Well we have one at 6:00pm today that is the only one we have”
“I’ll take it, Cheri said pulling out her credit card. “I guess I will just have to enjoy the Grand Rapids airport for a while”, she said , trying to keep a smile.
This was horrible, how could she have been so clumsy and not thought of changing the time on her watch.
