A day in the life of a person living in Kilsyth.
By the road side a jackdaw pecked at the little stones that gather there. They are washed down by mini floods of rain , what they gather on the way no one knows.Perhaps the jackdaws know more than us and search for little scraps of food, maybe even a juicy grub or two. In the silent parts of town blackbird song can be heard emanating from the bushes and trees , silence serenaded by blackbirds, wonderful. Magpies are a most majestic looking bird with blue/green feathers on its head and wings, and of course its very striking tail. It chuckles in the gardens and pecking at something in the conifers. A small bird or an egg stolen from an unsuspecting fellow winged creature. My first swallows were recorded on April 27 a pair diving and rising chasing minute insects. Sparrows chatter and argue in the trees and shrubs, cheeky little things that they are. Surprisingly, the Rowan trees are beginning to flower, this is very early as after the flowers, berries appear. Another surprise in the garden, Cotoneaster planted a few years ago , basically to fill a space, now coming into flower. Never seen that before. Very warm weather in April is not always the best, or does nature know something that we can not comprehend. Early heat is bringing everything on quicker , perhaps autumn and winter this year are going to be really hard, who knows.
