This is the day Jenny has been waiting for for many weeks. Six weeks ago, her friend’s cat had kittens. When Jenny asked her parents if they would let her have a kitten, they said “Yes.”  

        Now, wide-eyed Jenny looked over the four fat, furry kittens. Four wide-eyed kittens looked right back at Jenny. She wiggled her finger over the kittens box. The gray and white kitten batted its paw at her.  

       ”That one!” cried Jenny. She is so pretty and soft. Why, that’s what I’ll name her–Pretty!” 

        Jenny carefully lifted Pretty out of her box and took her to the car. She put Pretty into a small cardboard box for the ride home. The ride scared the small kitten. Suddenly she felt all alone. “Meow,meow!” she cried.
