Mary turned to the others who all gazed at one another and then began clapping. It seemed that they had enjoyed her spaced out story and once again, the green bottle was made to spin around and this time, by Mary. Round and round it span…

Round and round it span…until it stopped at Jim Woolson. Mary Smith smiled and him.

“Your turn, Jim. Ooh I can’t wait to hear this.”

Jim coughed and looked around at the others.

“Listen guys and gals, after hearing Mary’s story, believe me, you don’t wanna hear mine. Trust me on this one.”

“It doesn’t matter how it sounds,” Said Mary, “This is all about team spirit, remember??. Now please be a good boy and start your story!”

“Oh, very well.” Like Mary, Jim focused on the crackling flames. For a few seconds, he appeared completely lost and then, his eyes grew bright and a smile spread across his face.

“The story I’m going to tell you all is called…”My night with a t.v. impressionist.”

One stormy winter’s night, as Alexia Hayworthing sat in her living room watching an old black and white James Cagney movie, there was a sudden interruption in the form of a newsflash. The weatherman said,

“A blizzard is reportedly heading in this way and the public are strongly warned to remain indoors for the next 48 hours until it settles down. Please remain indoors and avoid the freak weather conditions.” The newsflash vanished and the movie resumed. A few moments later, there followed another newsflash.

“We interrupt this programme to warn the public to remain indoors and to lock all your windows and doors as a patient has just escaped from the mental asylum. His real name remains a mystery, but he is a master of disguise and a TV. impressionist. Under no circumstances should you approach him. He is highly unpredictable. If you see him, please ring the police immediately. Thank you for your co-operation and now back to the movie.” Alexia lost interest and switched off the t.v using the remote control in her right hand.

“I’m off to bed.” She was so tired that she couldn’t be bothered to climb upstairs and decided to curl up on the living room sofa. Once again, she heard an announcement.

“We interrupt this movie for an updated bulletin. The madman has been caught. I repeat the madman has now been caught and it is completely safe to unlock your doors and windows.”

“That’s weird.” Said Alexia. “Where did that come from? The t.v. is off, I think.” She doubled checked and looked around for the remote. It’s off but the remote is missing.”
