This short story is about a four year old little girl and her older brother who is five years old. They have decided that they or going to help cook Thanksgiving dinner with there Nana and Mother on Thanksgiving Day? But they needed two special cooking aprons like there Nana’s. A special gift came from Nana’s friend at Nana’s work for the children.
Now tThanksgiving day is here and Nana calls the children on the telephone to let them know that she will be coming soon to they’re house. Nana told the children to be ready to help her and their mother to cook Thanksgiving dinner. The children were so excited they were yelling out saying to their Nana over the telephone Happy Thanksgiving Nana and laughing with lots of excitement in there little voices.
Now Nana has arrived at the children’s house where the children and there mother opens the front door Andrew Jr. tells Nana that there daddy had to go to work today, because of the rain storm last night he had to go to pump out some tanks that had gotten a lot of water in them and that he would be back at home when he had finish his work!
That’s when Lena Ann ask Nana about their Papa, Nana said that she would go back home to get him because it was to early for Papa to come with her. So Nana’s answer satisfied Lena Ann, Nana says that she thinks Lena Ann and Andrew Jr. is allot older than they seem. Because of questions they ask and the answers they give or more like a person in there forty’s!
The children had put their aprons on alreadyand they said we or ready to cook the turkey Nana! Nana told the children that she have already did the turkey and she let them see the turkey was already to put into the oven. But she had allot of other cooking to do and they could help with that, the children said; Ok! Less cook right now Nana!
Everyone including there mother were all in the kitchen, Nana help the children to mix the cookie mix in a large bowl where they would add the rest of the ingredients and the children kept tasting the cookie mix. The children’s mother said you or going to eat all the mix up and we will not have Thanksgiving cookies!
So Lena Ann and Andrew Jr. stop tasting the Cookie mix. Nana then put the cookie sheets on the table and the children started put the cookie dough on the cookie sheet so that the cookies could bbake. Andrew Jr. asked Nana when will they be done and Lena Ann told him in 2 minutes! Nana said No! Lena Ann not 2 minutes! We will have to wait about 30 minutes and then we will let the cookies cool down and then we could put them on the cookie platter OK!
Lena Ann and Andrew Jr. Was so very happy about there cookies because they were their favorite oatmeal cookies and they were very delicious! Nana taken them out of the oven and the children watch as the cookies cool down they were very excited to take the cookies off the cookie sheet and put them the cookie platter. They ask there mother and Nana could they eat one! But instead it was three cookies each everyone that came over to their house the children offer them a cookie and Papa only got a piece because Lena Ann said, not too much Papa before you eat dinner OK! They all laugh at what Lena Ann had said. The children loved there big cooking day which was Thanksgiving Day 2008.
