Erin went straight into work not paying attention to anyone or anything that was around her. The mustang waited to be worked on so she put her mind to it. Denis came in and hovered over Erin for a while until he said.

“Denise wants you in her office.”

“Now what?”

Denis fiddled with the loop in his pants. He was shy. Didn’t really like talking to people.

“She didn’t tell me.”

Erin smiled. Great what did this bitch want now. She stopped at the door going into the office and knocked.

“Come in.”

“Yes Denise you wanted to see me?”

“Yeah actually I did.”

“Ok. I am here what do you want?”

“Why were you late again?”

“I wasn’t late.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“Yes I am sure so why am I here in your office?”

“Because something has been brought to my attention.”

“Oh and what is that?”

“That some money was stolen out of the register.”

“And you think that I did it?”

“No I didn’t say that.”

“Well it sure seems like you are? I don’t see why you are bringing it up with me if you don’t think that I did it.”

“No I want to know when you were last around it?”

“After I had my last customer. Then I went home. Which is where I stayed until I got up to go to school. So if that is a crime then you have nothing on me.”

Erin walked out of the office and sighed. What she would do just to hit that bitch a good one. She packed in for the night and heading home. It was early but she couldn’t stand being there with Denise especially if she was going to be like that. She wasn’t sure why she left but she did. She headed home to find there was a message on her answering machine. She pressed play as she went into the hall closet to get a basketball to go shoot some hoops before it got too dark.

“Hey Erin it’s me. There’s been a change in plans I am not sure if I will be able to make it tonight. He is get really suspicious and I have him near me all the time now. I am at work so I don’t know what I plan on doing. The boys are with Maria. But I just can’t tell Maria what’s going on because then what? I guess I am really worried about all of this. I know that Erin you were the strongest of the two of us and I just wish that I could be as strong as you are right now. Well I better not keep you. Love ya.”

Erin sighed. What was her sister thinking staying there with that man. Erin headed back out the door with the ball in her hand. The park wasn’t too far so she decided to walk. The air was rather chilly but it felt good. She had to get her mind off of things. Hopefully this would help.

She started to shoot. First at the foul line then moved over as if she was playing around the world. She made almost every shot. Her mind still wandered she couldn’t keep a clean mind for long. The thought of her mother. Where the hell is she at now? Back in jail? Erin nearly dropped the ball when she heard a voice. Turning she saw the one person she didn’t want to see again her mother. She blinked her eyes hoping she was hallunicating.

“Erin baby. It’s been so long.”

“Yeah just leave me alone will ya.”

“Why honey I am your mother?”

“Yeah I mother that abused me and drank herself pratcially to death.”

“I am not like that any more. You got to believe me.”

“Yeah believe you is like drinking rat poison without a cigarette. Janet seriously your nothing to me. Not my mom. Not nothing. I don’t want you in my life. As far as I am concerned I think that you should be locked up for all that you have done to me.”

“Erin you don’t mean those things. I know you don’t.”

“Oh but news flash woman I do! Your nothing to me I hate you!”

Erin turned and left her mother there standing in the park as everyone stared at them. Erin wasn’t sure what the hell she was suppose to do but she managed to travel into the road not paying attention to cars or nothing she just wanted to get home. A car stopped inches from her body. She turned her head and saw the driver of the car was Ms. Browne. Staring blankly everything started to spin. Erin fell onto to pavement.
