Life is continuous struggle so stop playing goody goody.

Life is all about a step difference

He wished himself good luck.

Mirror is one easy way to talk to yourself and not to miss your reflection.

His name was Nil, BE passed out, struggling author and my best friend.

That was how he used to introduce himself… a struggling author and so he was treated as subject of humor in his family. He was ignoring them for last whole month.

And today day he had reason to feel good… because after so many abortive writing proposals at last he had got one, to take an interview of famous businessman called Mr. Samdhani.

He was waiting for him and as he was sitting on the black sofa, he was continuously preparing himself for the coming interview. He was nervous as it was expected. And at last when Mr. Samdhani came, he stood up to welcome him.

Mr. Samdhani came very smoothly towards him and Nil smiled nervously. He shook hands with and sat on the sofa.

‘So what you want to ask me?’ Mr. Samdhani asked as if Nil was a friend and he is ready to answer any question presented to him.

Nil took some time to find his own voice and Mr. Samdhani looked at him and smiled.

Nil started with questions he prepared in the home.

And slowly all the nervousness vanished and interview became like a flow of talking.

Nil met me in the evening.

I saw him smiling widely and I guessed that interview had gone well.

‘So you happy, aren’t you?’ I asked.

‘Yeah I am… and you know why?’

I didn’t have to say yes. I knew Nil was going to tell me anyway.

‘You know Mr. Samdhani was talking to me for an hour. Telling me about his expedition to the status he is enjoying now. You know it was outstanding listening to his hardship and survivals.’

He continued, ‘you know I was about to end my interview when I asked him one question I didn’t prepare in the home. He was talking so much about his life that I suddenly asked him what he thinks about life. Is it beautiful or he has some complaints about its unfairness? And you know what he answered.’

‘He said; ‘Nil, life is all about a step difference.’ I didn’t understand anything but he knew that I was too young to understand his philosophy and so he further explained…’

‘…that all follows the same route… all try, fail, suffer … many of them try, fail, suffer and stop trying. Those people have ample of reasons to curse life. Life is always unfair to them.’

‘But few are those… who try, fail, suffer, and still gather their strength to try again. They learn and dare to take a step more towards their goal. They try and try more to achieve their goals… you see there is a step difference. When everyone has had enough, one is there who get up, gather his pieces and take a step more towards his goal. For him life is beautiful because in the end he has ample of reasons to celebrate and enjoy. It’s you always that make life beautiful or frustrating.’

‘So life is nothing more than that of… a step difference. I am one of them who take it.’

Nil said as if Mr. Samdhani himself was saying that. I understood gravity of- a step difference. I was appreciating philosophy where as Nil had reason to get inspired by it.

He was happy to tell me his experience and I was happy that he did so.
