The continuing story of Monday.
Monday woke up in the small hotel room. She’d spent her three days with her friend and now had to spend at least a night at a hotel with Billy. It was New Years. She looked around and found Billy standing at the doorway having a cigarette and letting the cold winter air in. She pulled more of the blanket over her. She hated hotels. It had been a big part of her life during the age of thirteen. That was seven years ago. She was homeless then just as she was now. Living for three months between a hotel and the in the back of her father’s shop with her father and her brother left a distaste in her mouth regarding hotels. There was nothing you could do in life to completely avoid them. Billy noticed she was awake and said good morning. Monday smiled back only to quickly give a look of pain on her face. Her body suddenly gave into cramps that were severe beyond a point. Billy put out his cigarette and walked over to the bed.
“Are you okay?”
“It hurts.”
“You want me to get a pain pill?”
“Sure. I don’t know what the heck is going on but it hurts.”
“You look like you’re going to be sick.”
“I feel like I’m going to be sick.”
The pain sickness lasted for a few moments and left just as quickly as it came. Leaving Monday confused. It wasn’t her time of the month. She just had that. Not to mention that it had been a week late as well which was odd considering she was on the pill.
With the pin behind her they waited for their friend Dan to pick them up. They had no vehicle of their own. Though, Billy had driven their friend Saul’s car to pick her up from her mother’s house. It was something they felt they should work on. Having a mode of transportation would be very important.
It wasn’t long until Dan came by. They were going out and finding a place for Monday to stay until she found an apartment. First stop was Billy’s parents’ house to get some food. Not that Monday liked their ideas for dinner courses, it was something to eat.
Monday and Billy talked along the way.
“I’m thinking we should get roommates.” He commented.
“Yeah, I’m on a limited budget. I only make $700 at most a month as a janitor and I don’t get extra hours anymore since we hired Nancy. Marie is great tow work with and I thought we did a great job together at keeping the mall clean without the extra help.”
