An evil executive, an equally evil plot, and sea food… what’s not to like?

Loan Shark Vacation

By Leonard Treman

Morgan Grimm leaned back in her chair as she watched the TV.  The CEO had just announced his plans to retire the following year and as the Vice President things were looking her way.

A knock came at the door and Claries, one of the newly hired department heads came in with the coffee that Morgan had requested.

“Morgan, here is the coffee that you requested,” Claries said cheerfully holding the mug of coffee out so that Morgan could grab the freshly brewed cup.

Morgan snarled Claries’ cheerful attitude was beginning to get on her nerves.

“I don’t want it,” Morgan said.

“Are you sure?  I brewed it freshly from the specially imported beans just like you always request,” Claries said still trying to remain cheerful.

“Actually, I might,” Morgan said reaching for the cup and knocking it out of Claries’ hand all over her dress.

“Ops, how clumsy of me,” Morgan said smiling as Claries began to look as if she would break into tears.

“Could you be a dear and get me another?” asked Morgan.

Claries scowled and muttered, “Yes, miss Grimm,” as she walked out of the room.

Morgan chuckled and leaned back in her chair farther as she imagined how much more fun being the CEO would be.  The title of Vice President of Barney loans was beginning to get stale.

A buzzer rang out and Morgan looked down to see that it was her secretary.

“I don’t want to hear your stupid progress report,” Morgan thought grimacing as she reluctantly pressed the button.

“Morgan, the CEO has requested you in his office,” the young secretary said.

Morgan had been waiting for those words for the past few years.  Before the phone line had even went dead Morgan dashed out of the room and down the hall knocking a group of people around the water cooler out of the way.
