Part 1
Group of friends left on the front lines against a incoming invasion.

“Fred, door.” William ordered. “Fred! Fred come on” impatience showing in his voice. He then moved towards Fred and shook him out of the trance like state he had fallen into. “Door” Will repeated calmly. Fred then stirred into conciousness and set about drilling planks over various gaps in the door. “How are we for ammo?” Will asked to anyone who knew. Jack quickly surveyed the room, “not as much as we might like, although it looks like we got ourselves a RPG”.

Jack then busied himself on the Window, but at that moment a thought struck him; “Will, I think I have a idea..” He started, pausing for a moment when he failed to locate the man he wished to speak to, “I think a good idea would be to not block up this side window, and then use it as bait”. Fred had finished with the door now, and was also waiting on Will’s reply. Neither of them knew why they sought out Will’s opinion when it came to finalising the plans. Not even Will knew, he just had a knack of choosing the right one, also, if he disagreed with the plan he tended to become a nuisance. After a few moments of waiting Jack became irritated, “Oi, what’s the plan!?” At that moment Will withdrew himself from the closet he was rummaging through holding a battered flashlight, “sounds good to me Jacky”. Jack nodded and proceeded to sit in a corner of the room, cleaning his weapon out.

He was armed with a M16 with a short barrel for closer combat, he was also armed with a .44 Smith and Wesson revolver. Fred on the other hand, was much more at home with his Mossberg Shotgun complete with bayonet attachment. Will had his Bren Gun he had inheritted from his Grandad and was equipt with a rounders bat for back up.

Will was now pacing around the room, which was simply, a small garage. Which had been chosen by some rupert to be the ideal holding spot. It’s stone walls were useful as protection. “I don’t see why it needs to be us” Fred let loose, the words escaping his lips. “It’s because we can do it” Jack piped up. “That and I volunteered us” Will concluded. “Surely there’s another way” Fred asserted, desperation in his voice. Fear can spread fast in situations like these. Will followed the direction of Jacks eyes, which were locked on Fred’s shaking hands. Upon seeing this, Will noticed his own knees were trembling, and that Jacks knuckles were white from his grip on his rifle. “We must do this! To save our family! Our friends!” desperation in Jacks voice too “but if you don’t want to be here then go!” anger showing now, but his voice calming to conclude “I need to be able to trust you”. Fred looked towards Will for reassurance. “Jack is right” Will whispered. “You think you’re the only one scarred..?” Will gave him a weak smile, “Jack’s shitting himself”. Fred gave an even weaker laugh, matching Jack’s smile.
