Cherish the moments. For they may last longer than a sunset……..
“Aaarrgh”, she whispered, “hold me closer please”.
He obliged without hesitation
He needed this moment
Her hair smelled of lemon zest, honey and a spice he couldn’t quite lay his finger on.
He felt her peace and his own mounted as he held her even closer
He wanted that element of contentment that reached out to him.
She caressed the arms and hands that were wrapped and clasped around her
and absorbed the strength of him
They stood inside the doorway, huddled and leaning into each other
Two souls so afraid, lest they be consumed.
The sunset bowed in reverence as it revelled in the merging of two lives inexplicably interwoven
It smiled a knowing smile as the dusk settled around them
if she could see his face she would understand that smile
If he beheld her eyes he would have turned her around
The cool breeze bounced around them like excited tadpoles in a pond
For how ever long and for whatever reason
This adoration would change their lives for longer than a sunset
and as the darkness closed in he finally turned her towards him
“lets go inside”, he said, “your arms are feeling cold”.
She reached up and touched his face,
Then brushed passed him to make a fresh pot of coffee.
