A short fictional story I wrote. The story was originally called " The Engineer ". I changed it, as I didn’t think people would read it with that title. Have a great day :)

We thought it would be a routine trip… it was anything but that. The ship Isumira sent a distress signal, we were nearest  to the Isumira, so we sped towards their direction in hopes to  help. I expected it to be some small holes left in the ship after the recent meteor storm. I scampered over to the tools shelf and slowly reached out for the large, beaten up energy welder. We near the Isumira so I ready myself by the loading gates. BEEP BEEP BEEP! The ear piercing sound of an alarm. Pilot Bruiser yells for us to be ready for a hard landing. The guidance systems failed, we are plummeting down into the Isumira’s dock. We scrape along the shipping dock, then come to a harsh sudden halt.

Crashed straight into the massive cold, steel interior of the shipping dock. The Doors of our ship slowly scrape open. The Isumira’s boarding stairs were crushed upon our fierce landing. Jason jumps first, around a 3 metre fall onto solid titanium, I follow down with an ungraceful stumble. Bruiser decides to stay on board. Miri is last to jump. She is scared, after a painfully annoying wait, we finally convince we to take the leap. She would have been better off to stay. She jumps down and falls onto her knee. SNAP, her knee is bend backwards and she is left, screaming in agony.

I race off, leaving my energy welder behind to find help whilst Jason wilfully stays with Miri. The ships dock is totally empty, not a soul. Not in its usual state. I scramble over to a massive steel door. It slides open and I walk in. I peer around the bend. My face drops, I turn to run away but the door has slid shut behind me. It won’t budge. My body is shaking, I am fear frozen. I hear a constant crushing sound coming from around the corner. I slowly gain the courage to peer around the corner.

Blood covers the walls, limbs and other body parts litter the small, dim, cold corridor. Crush crush crush, the continuous sound of a mangled body being crushed between the two massive sliding steel doors. I gather the nerve the continue on, holding my nose and my stomach. I jump over the body and through the door, its a dark room… there is a looming light, shimmering in the distance. It being my only source of guidance, I venture towards it, each gut wrenching step seems as it was 100 years.
