There was once a cat who loved her owner very much. Her owner is a fisherman. Each day, she would follow her owner to his boat and then wait on the beach until her owner returns.

Each time, the owner came back, the cat would jump with joy and greet her owner. Each time, she would get a treat of either small fishes or squid from the days catch.

One day, the owner went to sea as usual but never came back. The cat continued waiting at the beach. Even though a few days passed and there was no sign of her master, she continued waiting. After 3 days, the cat jumped into the sea to look for her owner. She did not have any idea where to search so she kept on swimming.

Her love for her owner was much stronger than her fear of the water. She continued to swim and soon became tired but she continued to swim further and further out to the open sea.

A mystical fish saw what had happened and took pity of the poor cat and knew that if she continued to swim and sink, she would surely drown. So the fish changed the cat into a fish so she would not die in the water.

To this day, the catfish continued to look for her owner.
