There are souls that circle around us waiting to reveal themselves with only a small window of opportunity to see one another. Both have to see at the same time or the window closes quickly.

That’s how so many people lose, pass over or just never meet their soul mate because neither know who they are at the precise time. Those are also the ones that don’t believe in love or lack passion in multiple dimensions. The true seekers met at the beginning of creation and have passed through eternity to continue their love. Like a curse they don’t always hit the mark and pass into the next generation usually leaving one behind with the knowledge that the other was here just a little too soon or too late. Those are the tormented souls that have to live out the remainder of a generation knowing they lost their chance to be with that one person they know so well. The broken heart carries that knowledge.

***

While sitting on her bar stool as she had so many times before talking with her favorite bartender, she never noticed the swift movement behind her as he walked up beside her. Reaching quickly for her, he softly placed her face in his hands and with the warmth of the sun he kissed her. As her arms go up in protest, the tears begin and she surrenders. All the memories of what was almost lost, came flooding back. Not since her husband had those feelings even remotely existed. When that relationship was broken, the soul that belonged to her, released itself as if hiding in shattered glass. It seemed a lifetime but that soul had finally come home to rest in it’s rightful host. His embrace loosened long enough to take her hand, leaving only enough time for him to grab her bag while she looked back over her shoulder at the friends that had watched her heart break in these past months.

As they moved toward the exit he swiftly silenced with one gesture the only person that came toward them in protest. Her head went down in an effort to hide her confusion. He looked back at his prize, lifted her chin and kissed her, parting her lips showing his need for her. Not too long ago, this woman was among the lonely and the broken. Now she found herself being lifted off her feet. With her legs wrapped around him,. he carried her out the door and into the rain where they never once ended their kiss. He pushed her up against the wall and held her arms outstretched as he kissed her face. The rain was blending with their tears as he pressed his body against hers. They never even noticed the rain as it poured down on them making the t-shirt she wore cling to her. She had no idea how long they stood in the rain. He wanted her even more as he could now see what his touch was capable of doing to her body. He put her in the car and they drove toward home always touching each other as if afraid the release would end the dream. He had to stop only twice to resume his need for her mouth on his. When they arrive at his home, he burst open the door surprising his housekeeper standing in the hallway. “This is the woman I love. No time to talk” he says and he drags her laughing hysterically toward his apartment. “It’s a pleasure to meet you”, is all she can say and waved as her soaking hair swung loosely past the stairway. In his apartment she doesn’t even notice the surroundings as she passes with him into the bathroom. She’s looking around trying to take this all in while he turns on the shower to warm them from the freezing rain.
