Does luck really plays a vital role in our lives? Yes, it does in some cases perhaps.
This is the story of a girl’s belief and how it comes true.
Luck By Chance!!
She had heard that luck plays a major role in one’s life. Savina firmly believed this. She was generally unlucky, she thought. This was because of the unfortunate circumstances that she had faced in her life.
Now almost in her forties, Savina, known at home as Savvy, had had a difficult childhood. Having lost her father at a very young age, she was brought up in the joint family of her paternal grand father. Her mother Mam ta, a young widow, had to take every step in her life extremely cautiously, be it going to the temple or to attend a marriage ceremony of some relative. She could neither eat the food of her choice nor wear the clothes which she desired, for fear of what the people around her would think.
Savvy just hated this and pitied her mother. She sometimes felt that her mother was being too meek in accepting all these difficulties imposed upon her by her family and the society, at large.
Savvy had decided never to marry, lest she should also face a similar situation in her life.
Unaware of what her fate had in reserve for her, she walked back from her college one day, deeply immersed in her thoughts, thinking about the results of her exams that she had just completed. She would be completing her MBA. Her mother thought that it was time she stopped her studies and paid attention towards the domestic chores, for she intended to get her married, soon.
Her grand father, loved Savvy for her gentle and loving nature. He always told her that she was the most beautiful and brilliant girl amongst his grand children. Perhaps, this was the reason for the deep hatred she always received from her aunts and her other cousins.
Just as she entered the gate, Savvy heard some voices from inside the house. She thought that there must be guests at home and hesitated to enter through the front door. She walked past the front door to the back of the house and went through the back yard, into the house.
She found her mother busy in the kitchen preparing savories like samosas, cutlets and many more things. The lovely smell of food made her feel hungry as she had not eaten anything since morning. She picked one biscuit from a tray and started munching it. Just then she heard her aunt commanding her not to touch anything as it was all meant for the guests. She shrugged her shoulders and turned towards her mother to ask her who the special guests were. She was answered by her aunt instead. She proudly announced that some one had come with a proposal for her daughter Re nu. The boy was a computer engineer and was the son of a well known business man of the town. The family had already arrived to view the girl.
