Short story.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to jump off a diving board and not be able to land in the swimming pool? I don’t really know, but I was about to find out on a very strange day.

I had been invited to my best friend’s birthday party in the summer holidays. I got dressed in to my special party dress and then started to eat my breakfast. As I was drinking my juice, I was watching my favourite T.V show. A scene in the show was so hilarious that it made me spit out some of my juice and only just missed my party dress by 2 cm.

“Phew!” I thought. If my mum saw that I had spilt my juice on the carpet I know that she would not let me go to the party at all.

I went in to the car and I soon arrived at my best friend’s house.

“Oh no!” I gasped.

“I think I have forgotten my swimming costume. It’s a swimming party. Remember mum?” I explained feeling a bit down in the dumps.

“I remember so I packed your swimming costume in the boot of the car” said my mum.

I felt a lot happier so I took my swimming costume and then knocked on the door.

My best friends mum opened the door and welcomed me in to her house.

“Sarah and all your other friends are outside in the swimming pool, so I think you’d better put your swimming costume on and join them” exclaimed my best friends mum cheerfully. I did what she told me to and then went to join Sarah (my best friend) in the garden. As soon as I saw the huge garden, my eyes were just staring at the garden in amazement.

“Hi do you want jump in to the swimming pool by jumping off the diving board?” asked Sarah.

“No thanks I think I’d rather jump on the trampoline” I said.

“But this is a swimming party, not a trampoline party” insisted Sarah.

“Ok” I whispered feeling very nervous as I took slow steps towards the diving board. I was shivering, but began to jump. I jumped and then realised it was a wonky jump. I started to close my eyes when I realised I had missed the pool because I had taken a big jump. Luckily I landed straight in the trampoline.

“I must be lucky today” I thought thinking of all the lucky things that have happened. I started to dance around the house saying that I was lucky. I was dancing around so much that that I tripped over and my face landed in to the strawberry cake. I knew that my luck had ended.
