A young girl who’s treated differently, becomes a private eye.
Macey was walking home from school. High school was very boring. I didn’t really have any friends. The other kids thought I was strange. I dress all in black. Has very black hair and wears dark make-up. They call me gothic. Too, me, I just think I’m me.
Every day I would walk the same way. Something today though told me to walk one street over. It was right by the old Carpender house. One of the kids in her math class said that the house was haunted. Things like that never scared me or bother me. I was interested in that kind of thing. I wanted to be able to go into that house and look around, I wouldn’t think that anything would happen to me. If it was haunted, it would be worth my while.
The Carpender house was just three houses away. When I stopped to look at the outside of the house. One of the curtains moved. It looked like there was someone in the house. I knew then that I should go home and call the police. I also knew that I couldn’t trespass on someone elses property. So I walked home.
When I got there, I headed for the phone that hung in the kitchen. I picked up the phone and called the police station.
” Police station,” said a lady on the phone.
” Yes, I would like to say that I saw someone in the old Carpender’s house. You need to send someone over there to check it out.” I said.
” May I ask who this is,”
” I live just down the street from it and I tell you, I saw someone in that house.” I said, excised.
For some reason the phone got silent. I didn’t know why. I waited for someone to say something.
” This is officer McConnally. Young lady there is a family that is living in that house not. I guess you wouldn’t know that with school and stuff.” He said.
” Officer, I’m sorry. I didn’t know that there were people in that house.” I said.
I didn’t really know that there was anyone there. I told the officer that I’ll hang up and I did. I wondered if they had kids in my school. I probably have seen them. But, I did I wouldn’t have known who they are. This was going to be a mystery for me to have to solve.
