A young girl who’s treated differently, becomes a private eye.
The officer looked at me.
” Where did you here about that?” He said.
” I was reading the old article on the deaths in our town and read that unclaimed persons can be taken by anyone and get barried.” I answered.
” You are right! I will need you to fill out this paper first.” He handed me the paper.
I quickly filled it out and handed it back. He got up and walked to the back of the room. Talked to some guy and then came back. The guy he was talking to left.
” The guy I was talking to will go get it.”
I went and sat down on a empty chair. Quin sat next to me.
I wasn’t sure what to do with the bones. I did know I needed to got out to the graveyard and find the gravestone with her name on it. Finally, that guy came to the counter and put the bag down on it. I walked over and took the bag. Said thank you to the officer and left. We walked back to Quin’s house. I couldn’t believe that I was carring a bag of bones. That it used to be a real human being.
Packed up all my stuff. Told Quin to meet me out back of my house, some time around midnight. Then, we will take the bag of bones to the graveyard. I needed to do this for the girl.
Midnight came around. I made my way downstairs and grabbed the spare key. I had the bag in my hands as I stepped out the door. Quin was already there and we said hi to each other and began to walk towards the graveyard. It dawned on me that I didn’t know her name. So, when we got to the gate that led into the graveyard and sat on this rock. I wondered if she was going to give us some kind of sign.
I got up and opened the gate some so we could slip through. I needed to turn on my flash light so I could see. We walked down the driveway and looked around. I was looking to see if I could see her. Around this one bend, I caught a glips at something that looked like it wasn’t there. I turned off my flash light and looked around again.
I glanced over by this tree and I could see a faint see through shape of a person. It was her. Where she was standing there was a grave stone that read, ‘ my beloved grand daughter, Grace Elizabeth Grazer, born May fifth in the year of nineteen forty-nine and died November eigth in the year of nineteen sixty-two. That ment that they didn’t find her body for three years or more. She stood there floating in place.
She pointed towards the shovel sitting close to the grave. I grabbed the shovel and began to did a hole. I dug the hole about four feet down. Climbed out of the hole. Had Quin hand me the bag and I carefully layed the bones in the grave. I shoveled the dirt over the bones and filled it back in. I looked over to where Grace was still standing.
” My friend.” She said. ” I am mighty grateful to you.”
Just then she disappeared. I guess she went to the here after.
I looked at Quin, ” I guess we done it.” I said.
” I guess we did.” She said. ” By the way I think we should call ourselves the mystery girls. Because we are here to solve the mysteries of our small town.”
We walked to each of our homes said good night.
