This is a literature technique that utilizes the number three to create repitition effects for a better understanding of what is going on in the story.
Description is vital in writing stories and articles. Using tricks and techniques to get the words across always make your article better, and should be used every time you write something. One of these techniques is called the Magic Three.
This is simply three clauses, sentences, or words that describe something three times. An example would be
“The worker knew what had to be done, what can be done, and when he can do it.” It doesn’t need full repetition for the effect. It just has to be three ideas linked on describing something. Here are some other examples.
“It all happened in slow motion. The assassin pulled the trigger, sending panic through the air, through the people, and through my very own soul. The minister couldn’t die today! Not tomorrow, not this week, not this year! A leaped up in front of the fear-stricken minister, in front of oblivion, in front of death. The bullet tore through me, knocking me back. I could feel no pain, because of my adrenaline rush. But I will die.”
Yeah, I kind of spammed the technique there, but you get the point. You shouldn’t use too much of one thing all the time. It gets boring to read. Especially with this. It didn’t sound right when you read that, but it did get the word across. You should alternate between techniques for the best effect. Happy Writing!
