Fictional account on how Maple syrup was discovered.

There was once a girl in a remote island.  There were not many animals on the island, so the residents there planted fruit and vegetables for food.

On special occasions, they will catch fish for meat.   One day, while the girl was in the forest, she came across a strange tree.  She accidentally cut the bark and some sap oozed out.  She liked the scent and licked some of it.  It was sweet, so she wrapped some of it in a leave and took it home.

The next morning, she put it on her pancakes and ate it for breakfast.  Her family saw it and she shared it with them.

Later when visitors found the island, they shared the new discovery with them.  Since then, many people ate pancake with this new syrup, which was eventually known as Maple Syrup.
