She smelled the wind and caught the familiar scent of iron through her nostrils.

She lost them.

Everything around her made her feel blind–she couldn’t see anything except for the darkness looming around her. Her shaking hands stayed on her sides, while her trembling feet trudged a step closer to nowhere.

She couldn’t find them.

Where am I? Can somebody please help me?

The thunder roared, and the lighting edged on the darkening gray sky.

She cleared her throat as she continued on her path to somewhere she couldn’t define. Her long, dark hair cascaded against her slightly-curved back; her tears rolled down from the corners of her disturbed eyes. She wanted to find them, but she simply couldn’t.

There was a lump in her throat. She couldn’t find any other way to scream, or to even make some noise—she groped for anything to hold on, even though she knew that there was nothing around her. She tried so many times to hold on anything, but she was only surrounded with the cold evening rain, splattering on the concrete.

She knelt down. This time, she groped for the wet and rough concrete floor with lesser hope than before.

With more tears racing on her cheeks, she faced the ominous, dark sky.

“Mama? Papa?” she mumbled with her tiny, stuttering voice. “Where are you now?”

As the wind blew, she smelled a familiar scent.

Blood.
