Two lovers meet in the snow.

Mina walked along the snow-covered path, dressed in her winter hanbok, her crimson scarf complimenting her rosy cheeks. Anticipation in her heart made her feel giddy as she carefully carried her precious parcel of freshly made ggul tteok – round glutinous rice cakes stuffed with Korean syrup – wrapped in a pink cloth. She makes her way toward the front gates of the courtyard and is about to open it when two hands suddenly grab her from behind, pulling her into the far corner of the outside wall.

“You finally came,” a masculine voice whispered softly in her ear.

Mina gasps with delight, feeling his warm breath. She loved it when Hwang would surprise her like this, being spontaneous. She turns around and hands him the wrapped package.

“I brought you some treats,” she replies, her eyes twinkling.

Hwang unwraps the pink cloth, revealing the various pastel-colored rice balls. Mina picks one up and takes a bite, the syrup swirling upon her tongue.

“Mmmm…sweet.” She then places the remaining piece in Hwang’s mouth, letting him taste, his dark-brown eyes upon her, making her blush.

“Good, huh?” she innocently asks, her long lashes demurely fluttering. He answers her by leaning in and softly kisses her lips.

“Yes, my sweet,” his lips lingering upon hers. “Almost as sweet as you.”

She places another one to his mouth, her little fingers tingling as he slowly chews. Some syrup ends up on the corners of his mouth.

“My, my. Aren’t we messy!” she playfully admonishes him, wiping the syrup off with a finger. She was about to lick it off when Hwang grabs her hand and places the finger in his mouth, gently sucking it off. Mina quivers, her knees threatening to buckle.

“My treat, remember?” he replies, a grin on his lips. She blushes, looking even more lovely. She suddenly wraps up the remaining pieces of ggul tteok back in its pink cloth.

“I have to go back. My father is waiting.” She turns to leave but he grabs her with his free hand and pulls her in close for a long, spine-tingling kiss. Mina practically melts. After a short while, he releases her, both of them breathless.

“I really need to go, Hwang.” He steals one more kiss.

“Till we meet again,” his breath so warm.

Mina suddenly shivers, realizing just how cold it was to not be in his arms. Hwang carefully drops the pink parcel to the snowy ground and grasps her dainty hands, gently rubbing it between his much larger ones. He softly blows on it, his breath swirling like small clouds in the frigid winter air.

“Just warming you up a bit before you go,” he replies with a grin, his teeth so shiny and white, like lustrous pearls. Mina leans in and kisses him, her tongue running along his smooth teeth. He nibbles her lower lip, causing her to plaintively mew. She then breaks the kiss, breathless once more.

“I really do need to go,” she whispers, her hand on his cheek, lost in his eyes. Hwang leans in and touches her forehead with his, a need humming between them.

“Then go, my sweet,” he finally replies, his voice husky. “But I will miss you.”

She kisses him once more before running off, leaving footprints in the snow, her heart pounding in anticipation for their next illicit encounter.

If you are interested, here’s another piece featuring my favorite Korean treat (and no, it isn’t Hwang, lol):

That’s how to make a fire out of a snow. The snow melted and everyone got wet. There’s really heat in the sunshine, Lady.
