A little story for you to read.
Bleep…bleep…bleep.
Michael woke to the sound of bleeping. He stared up at the white ceiling and thought of nothing.
He realised he was lying on his back, but he didn’t know where.
Where am I? He thought idly as he lay there but then his next thought horrified him. Who am I? Michael had no idea who he was; he didn’t even know his own name!
He shot up like a spring and was immediately hit with a wave of dizziness and pain. He slowly lay back down again, massaging his temples.
At least I can move he thought and turned his head from left to right. He saw rows of beds on either side of him with other people lying in them. Michael didn’t know who or where he was and he suddenly felt scared.
After sitting there for a while a woman, wearing a pale blue jumper and a flowery skirt, walked towards him from a door to the far right of the corridor. She had piercing blue eyes and faded black hair that was turning white. She had a tight lipped mouth which broke into a smile when she saw he was awake.
“Oh Michael, you’re awake. Thank God…”
“Who are you? What am I doing here?” Michael quickly interrupted her. The woman just smiled at him serenely.
“My poor Michael. You were stuck in a coma for nearly a month since the accident…” She looked away from him for a moment then carried on.
“Your parents died in the car crash, we weren’t sure you would survive…but you have and now Tom and I have to take care of you. We’re your grandparents Michael.”
