Middle ages three.
Oh, what a great day! I, Lord Drake III think this was one of the better days in my life in my quiet town, Vanille. First, I traveled to the Great Hall and had my breakfast. There was not much to do so I decided to go see the new tower being built. The master mason greeted me kindly. We spoke for a moment and then I went to excuse myself and went to the exercise yard. There I met a couple of boys who looked so hungry they might die. I invited them to lunch just when a reeve came to me and said the pumpkins were growing steadily, but someone had stolen one. I told the reeve to have the man deliver the stolen goods and wait in the dungeon. He ran away to do so.
The boys followed me. I found out that their names were James and Adam. We walked past the outer yard and saw my archers, crossbowmen, and knights quarreling with a merchant. We finally arrived in the Great Hall where some jugglers, minstrels, and jesters entertained us by playing bagpipes, juggling, and making some very funny jokes. I had a whole feast, and we ate chicken, goose, and pheasants after the taster made sure it wasn’t poisoned.
I danced with the boys and servants danced together. Once we were done I took the boys to a guest room and had servants care for them. My groom was tending my horse when I walked past. However, once I stopped by the outer gate I was greeted by many knights and merchants looking for a place to retire for the day. I took them to the courtyard where the kitchen was located (to lessen risk of fire).
Forty trenchers, or thick slices of bread used as a plate, and food. Once the servants returned, the carvers carved the meat and cup bearers poured the wine, which the knights and I believe is an art. My trencher soaked some wine spills and a little spill here and there. The villagers crops had been delivered to us and we ate corn and apples and other such plants.
They talked very merrily and I asked why the merchants were there. They said they wanted to have a town fair at their castle after bringing looted goods and luxurious items from other places. They were going to set up tents for large attractions, but would mainly have stalls. However, they decided they would do it here! So in a week or so we shall raise the tents and have an open Fair! I have much to do! Finally, I write this in bed after many hours of tales and laughter and I must tell you, the kids are happy and so am I. What a glorious day!
