A not so very fun night with some spooks.

It was not a bright, warm, fun, and cheerful morning. But it was dark, cold, and wet. I couldn’t believe my dad had let Kyle and I go fishing at midnight and now it was about two o’clock. We were at Eby Pines Campground and they have a rule that you shouldn’t be out wandering around past eleven o’clock. At the time I was fifteen and my friend Kyle was seventeen. We each had a pole with a rubber worm on it and two flashlights. He had let me borrow one of his poles since I had left mine at home. We were trying to catch bass, carp, and basically anything else that we could hook.
First we went around to the other side of the pond by our campers. We set our flashlights by the big tree and threw out our lines. We stayed there for about fifteen minutes and then we moved a little bit around the edge of the pond to the shuffle boarding area. After about ten minutes Kyle came up to me and whispered, “ I saw a guy sitting at the table in the cabin.” So we slowly walked over to the other pond hoping he didn’t see us.
When we got to the other pond we set the flashlights by these short little stumps they had put there for people wouldn’t drive their golf carts all over the place. At first I thought we would spend about half an hour to forty-five minutes there before heading back to the campers, but it was much longer. After an hour I was really getting sick of fishing because nether of us had gotten anything and we couldn’t talk like we had before because campers were way to close. So I went and told him I was going to go up to the shower house and use the restroom to pass some time. We traded poles because he wanted to try to use mine and I set the pole by the flashlights. I then walked up to the shower house  hoping I wouldn’t run into anyone, especially one of the security guys.
I got back to the pond without seeing anybody. I stood by the edge of the pond looking for Kyle and I couldn’t see him anywhere. So I went to see I he had taken the flashlights and pole just in case he had went back to the campers, but they were still there. I looked around some more and then I thought I saw someone standing by the bushes next to the bridge, but they were being to still to tell. I was to stupid to just pick up a flashlight right next to me and shine it over there, but instead I just walk slowly over there. When I got close enough to see I realized it was Kyle. He told me that when I was walking up to the shower house he had caught a small bass.
After I went and got the other pole I went and sat on this small wooden bench that was near the edge of the water. After sitting there for about ten minutes I was reeling in the line and when it was close to the edge there was a loud slash where a fish tried to get the rubber worm. I scared the heck out of me because I thought I was never going to get anything. The fish didn’t get hooked  so I moved a little bit down the shore. By that time I was really cold and my socks were soaked from the dew on the ground. I was only wearing a sweater and shorts. After a few minutes I decided to quit fishing and I went back to sit on the bench. Now after two hours of fishing I thought we would be done soon, but Kyle walked over and asked if I wanted to go try another spot. I told him sure, but I was actually really tired and wanted to go back to the camper.
We walked back across the bridge and went to the Island Pavilion. We found another wooden bench like the other one and fished there. We traded our poles back and move down the shore. We were there for only about five minutes and Kyle reeled in a huge branch that almost broke his line. We then used that flashlights to try and see any fish in the water. We walked around the edge of the island until we saw this huge fish. Kyle threw his line out, but it didn’t take it and it swam away. We worked our way out of the island looking at t he water the whole time. We saw a lot of small baby fish and some bigger ones sometimes.
We then did the same thing looking at the water when we came back around to the cabin. At that point we really didn’t care if we woke someone up so we just kept the flashlights on. When we got close to the camper Kyle asked me if I wanted to go look to see if there were any fish in the creek. I thought he was crazy. I really tired so I told him we should just get back to the campers.
When we were just walking up my mom seemed to have just woken up and was inside to camper turning off the lights I had left on inside when my dad had gone to bed and I had left. She heard us outside putting the stuff away and told me to hurry up. She seemed really ticked that I had stayed out this late. Kyle went inside his family’s camper and I went inside ours and got ready for bed. It was three thirty when we had got back. My mom really hadn’t said much of anything. I fell asleep really fast.
In the morning I expected my parents to be really angry, but they weren’t. I guess they figured it was our fault we stayed out so late and it would suck for us because we didn’t get much sleep. After staying out that late and barely get any fish I decided I would do most of my fishing during the day in the future.
