A story about….well, rain, I guess.

Clouds were in the sky by eight-o-clock. Rachel was working on a project for school, typing away at her laptop. Why was everything so miserable today? She had woken up feeling good but quite quickly this feeling had gone away, and disapeared and retreated into the back of her brain.

Things had not gone well today in band class. Rachel played the trumpet and that horrible trombone player sitting behind her had continuely hit her on the back of the head with his instrument. What was his problem? Then, at lunch, believe it or not, there was a food fight. This would have been fun except for the fact that people began to throw drinks and they had burst on the table where she and her friends sat, drenching them in chocolate milk. That wasn’t exactly nice…. The teachers had also been in a bad mood, grasping at anything to complain about. Maybe it was the transition to the cloudy, rainy weather of Autum, and the receding daylight.

Rachel finally finished her spanish project at ten-o-clock pm, and brushed her teeth, then got into bed. She opened a book and began to read, but rain had begun to fall. Rachel tried to go to sleep, no use. The pitter patter of rain was on her roof, climbing in volume. Finally, in her PJ’s and fuzzy slippers, Rachel walked to her back door. She slipped off the slippers and stepped outside. The rain pounded in her ears, and drenched her in several seconds. She walked into the middle of the grass that mad up the back yard and sat down. The rain had a soothing effect on her, and was warm on her skin. Finally, she fell asleep.
