My son Sam is VERY animated. He talks with his hands, has eyes that bulge when he’s excited, and smiles bigger than anyone I know.

One day we were in a checkout line at a store and an older couple were watching Sam tell me a story. Sam could feel them staring and looked over at the woman who said to me, “My goodness, he’s VERY expressive”.

I told her that he IS expressive, and smiled proudly at him.

Sam looked a little embarrassed and we didn’t speak again until we were in the car on the drive home.

“Am I for sale?”, he said with a concerned look and teary eyes.

“For sale?”, I said, “No, sweetheart, why would you ask me that?”

“That lady said I was expensive. I don’t want you to sell me.”

I laughed so hard and so long. When he saw me laughing, he laughed too.
