Short mystery story.
Misty the magical ghost horse…she roams the mountains day in, day out she roamed. Through the mist and the rain…racing through the valleys where a steady flow of the snow off the mountains melts in the spring sun with a trickle. She got her beautiful, mischievous name for her colour and mist flowing through her mane and body. She got older until one day the men moved up in the mountain with their horses and their cattle, and then it all changed…
One day the men where building shacks out of logs, they heard a whinny; they knew it wasn’t their horse. They were looking round a lot more and were suspicious of Misty and her legend. All of the older bush men which had passed on, had told the story of the ghost horse that roamed the land of the mountains and the valleys where the mist made it impossible to she her. When she came up from inside a cave at the edge of the mountain where only she, Misty could get…The men got more and more worried about the magical horse, and soon began to wonder around the mountains looking for Misty…Soon it would be winter again and the snow would come back to the mountains and the men would be gone with the cattle because they couldn’t bare the cold, snow. It was autumn and the cattlemen and their horses and cattle had left. Misty was able to come out of hiding and
roam around with the other brumbies. She had to prepare for the long the winter. Winter had come and Misty had got her winter coat and had been trying to find grass under the thick snow. She had survived the winter and was getting ready to go into hiding again in her cave, when the men came back in the spring. It was spring, the mountain had the steady trickle of thesnow that had melted… and Misty stayed roaming the mountains for as long as her ghost lived on.
