A short story about a modern man… and an alien.
The frosty, familiar ground felt calming as I raced through an open field where existing memories grab me without surrendering. I could not look back, even for a moment, and face the horrifying contraption that positioned me as a stow-away on its journey to Earth. Earth. Such a gentle name for such an unspeakable place. Earth. The painted picture of the appalling planet will not escape my mind and the traumatizing events, from this day on, will control me forever. Still running, I swung myself into the building where I knew I could confess to someone my tale of the implausible activities taking place at this very second on the planet we call Earth. Between my considerably heavy pants, I attempted to open my mouth and announce my observations when a high-pitched alarm blared so deafening that I could see the sound waves rapidly cross the room. I couldn’t breathe as the ringing clamor charged through my mind bringing back the recollections of that so-called friendly planet: Earth…

I finished studying my old copy of the English dictionary attempting to recall any English I had learned in my former elementary years. I set down the book when I noticed that I was seemingly close to my destination. Earth. My mission is to monitor an earthling and gain as much information I can. I wasn’t assigned anyone in particular however my instructions were to select an outwordly “Modern Man”.
The disguise I chose included a simple American sports team hat, goggles used for sun prevention, and an immense amount of make-up to coat my scaly green skin. I confirmed my new look from my reflection and established that I looked ghastly. Humans are ugly creatures. However it is essential that my species does not get discovered until the earth year 3009.
Inching closer to the oxygen filled planet, I have precisely chosen a specific location to dock my X15 nautical hayabusa – or as men have labeled it “a flying saucer”. I stepped onto the green pasture and immediately felt the scorching hot sun. I sensed that maybe my skin would melt any second or at least the make-up I applied earlier. Forgetting for a moment where I was, I left my vehicle in sight. I relocated it to a nearby abandoned junkyard and then believed that I was ready to navigate this mysterious planet.
