Adjusting to a new work environment.

I had worked in the Admitting Department in the hospital for two years, before I accepted another position at a small neighborhood health clinic, as secretary to the medical director. I thought this was going to be a good place to work, but in the year that I was there, I soon became bored. I left that position and signed up with several office temporary agencies. I did temporary work for a year. There were many companies that offered me a permanent position, but I could not make up my mind. Once I worked at these various companies and saw the office politics, I requested the agency to send me to another assignment when my time was up.
Eventually, I knew that I could not keep doing temporary assignments indefinitely. Most temporary agencies at that particular time offered very little benefits. I can remember one time when I hade a medical problem, and I had to go to a neighborhood clinic for treatment. I thought, “What if something really serious happens and I do not have health insurance”. I made a decision to accept the next job opportunity that offered benefits and reasonable salary. I had submitted my resume for Office Manager for the Adult Education Department for a local school district. I was called for an interview and hired. I experienced the normal management issues in this small office, until the Supervisor of that department retired.
Another administrator in the department was hired for the position. Things seemed to go downhill for me. He began to assign me more responsibilities and made a point of saying how he had worked for the school district for many years before he had been given any recognition or promotion.
I had asked for more money since I was doing more work. He stated that his support and salary increases would be for the teachers only working in that department. Of course, my thoughts were to
move on as soon as possible, to the best opportunity that I can find.
